Marathon Training {week 7}


7 weeks down, only 11 more to go! This past week was a good one!

Monday- Again, I woke up before sunrise to get my miles in before work. It was warm (50’s), windy & dark. Something about that combination made it creepy outside. I ran faster than I was scheduled to do but I just wanted to get home. I ran 6 miles in 48:38, an 8:06 average pace.

The reason I ran in the morning was because my brother and Lauren invited me to their gym. There was a free class that night. It was a combination of the Knock-Out and Tabatta classes. I really liked the class! It was high intensity, fast paced, and fun! Plus, I love working out with friends. I wore my HRM to see how many calories I burned. For the 45 minutes we worked out this was a pretty high calorie burn for me! Double workout Monday!


Tuesday- I cross trained with an hour circuit training class.  We had 4 stations that each had a medicine ball, bosu, step, and a Dynamax ball. I liked how we did a different exercise for each piece of equipment.

Wednesday-  My training group met up at one of my favorite spots to do speed work. We had a 1.5 mile warm up followed by 4 laps ( about 4 miles total) around the block-which is more in the shape of a triangle. We would run slow to the corner and run the  straight away about a minute faster than race pace. Once we got to the other corner we would do the same, slow for a few then fast running. After one full lap we paused for 30 seconds. We ended with a 1.5 mile cool down.

Thursday- A much needed rest day!

Friday- Even though I was off of work I still got up and got my early morning workout in! I had a jam packed day so getting in and out of the gym before 7 was nice!

Saturday-  I was looking forward to this weeks long run. The group met at a new location, and the course was relatively flat.  I was pretty tired from the night before (senior night for the dance team) so I wasn’t sure how it was going to go. The weather here in Cincy can’t seem to make up its mind, its been anywhere from 15-50 in the past few weeks. Saturday morning was a chilly 19* but there was no wind. It took just a new miles to warm up. Usually the group has Gu and beans for us but today they didn’t. I could have used something at mile 9 (note to self-bring some just in case!). We finished 12.3 miles in 1:41:00. We started out slower and picked up the pace at the end. It was a great run!

Sunday- Another rest day. My dance team was at competition, so I was gone all day.


This week I am looking forward to having more free time. Yesterday was the last day for the dance season which means no more practice!  I am looking forward to adding some yoga into my weekly workouts now!
