I ❤ NY {part 1}

Finally I’m going to blog about our trip to NYC! I can’t believe Andy already beat me to it! But better late than never right?!

My friend from work, Lisa, is from New Jersey. She was nice enough to invite us to the wedding. At first I thought we wouldn’t be able to go-with the flight,hotel, and other expenses I thought it was going to be too much since we are building the front porch. But then I remembered, my friend Nikki (a flight attendant) owed us tickets from our wedding 3 years ago! Perfect!

We got our flights and decided to make a long weekend trip out of it. Neither Andy nor myself had been to “the big city” before. We planned it out to fly into Newark, take the train into NYC and stay there for 2 nights, followed by 2 nights in NJ.

Our flights were good, and the train ride wasn’t too bad. Once we arrived in Penn Station NYC we got our luggage and started walking out of the station. I’m not sure if I can describe the feeling I had as we walked closer to the stairs that lead to downtown.  I could feel the energy of the city. Once we took that first step into the city I took it all in. We were here, in New York City.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many people all in one place before. Picture Andy & I walking down the busy street pulling our luggage behind us, making sure not to run people over or lose each other, and trying to take in everything around us. We made it to the hotel, settled in our cozy (re:tiny!) room and ventured out to check out Time Square.

Super sad Ocho isn’t wearing the Bengals stripes anymore 🙁

Time Square was busy on this Thursday night. We tried to imagine what it would be like being there on New Years Eve, I can just imagine the crowd & excitement. We saw all kinds of crazy things, naked guitar playing granny (not a pretty sight!), Elmo, cookie monster, and more. We wanted to find something different for dinner, so Andy pulled out his phone to find restaurants by us (we stayed on W 48th street). He mentioned Good Burger and I knew that was the place to go (I mean come on, you know you loved Keenan and Kel in that movie too!) They lived up to there name, one of the best burgers I’ve had, and their strawberry shake was good too!

We knew we had a long day ahead of us so we went back to the hotel and got some rest. We only had one day in the city so we had a lot to do in a short amount of time…

will con’t tomorrow
